PRESS RELEASE: Eric Roth at the Viaduct Theatre, June 16 2010
On Wednesday June 16 at 8 pm at the Viaduct Theatre in Chicago, Eric Roth presents an evening of fresh, live music to celebrate the 2010 release of Battery, the definitive audio document of some of Eric’s most striking percussion music. The performers include Tina Laughlin–the dynamic percussionist and member of several of Chicago’s most prominent music ensembles, Eric Roth, and the clarinet trio claraconbrio.
The program consists of nearly all original Eric Roth music and will include live performances of Both Teams Played Hard, the monumental one-sticked snare drum solo, and Bible Thumpin V, a trio for three performers, each with a bible–the musical instrument. Both are featured on Battery. There will also be selections from Vibraphone Journal–a collection of wicked solo pieces for vibraphone, performances of Trick and Work That Body–two of Eric’s most ostentatious kinetic music compositions (Trick possesses no sound content at all), and a new arrangement of a classic Michael Jackson number as a joyful memorial to a musical inspiration.
Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance at the Viaduct Theatre box office or viaducttheatre.com.
